Although Francisco Salzillo is one of the most well-documented sculptors of the 18th century in Murcia, it is also true that what has survived to this day represents only a small fraction of what actually existed. This documentary gap requires highlighting the lack of reference documentation regarding the commissioning of his works, of which few examples exist today. This lack has led to the fact that, to this day, we do not really know the year in which the vast majority of his works were made. We know their authorship not because these documents exist, but because they have been cited by his early biographers.
